2017 new beginnings
80% Grenache 20% Syrah
Picked on a Harvest moon at 3 am on October 4th, 2017, this was our very first year working with Amador County fruit. I am extremely grateful for this gorgeous, organically farmed, Shake Ridge Ranch fruit. The 2017 vintage was a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. The Syrah fruit folded in a rustic, old-world flare that ignited the lighthearted Grenache with a bit more structure and balance. This vintage is easy, light and very approachable with alcohol coming in at 14.1%. This year produced unusually light-skinned grapes, therefore, the grapes saw 19 days of total skin contact that would entice the ruby color. Aged in neutral French oak barrels, racked only once and gently filtered.
Grateful for the 70 cases produced.
